On top of this, how the public expects minority characters to be handled has changed dramatically since then. The idea of seeing yourself, of self-acceptance, is one of the things that allows Goku to defeat Frieza in the first place: by making peace with his lineage, his race, and his relationship with Earth. He did it for pure entertainment, a still living existence trapped in hell and as something special for this hotel!
